— A power outage due to a car accident last night is currently affecting up to 500 customers in Milford along Route 739.

According to the Dingman Township Volunteer Fire Department Facebook page, an accident on Route 739 between Seneca Dr. (Conashaugh Lakes) and Wild Meadow Dr. is closed due to a motor vehicle crash with a pole down.

As a result of the crash, local residents are experiencing a power outage. According to an online outage map on the electric company’s website, Met-Ed is reporting that 101 to 500 customers are experiencing an outage due to equipment damage.

A crew is on the scene, according to the website and a local resident. The estimated restoration time is listed as today at 2 p.m.

Rick Underhill, a resident along Route 739, said that state police were on the scene last night and at about 8:30 a.m. this morning, cones and signs saying “road closed” were put up. An electric company crew has been on the scene working since this morning.

According to Underhill, the situation is frustrating because similar outages have occurred after storms like this before.

“There are people that need that electric because they have medical devices that they have to keep going,” he said. “This sort of emergency should not repeat itself.”

Calls to Met-Ed and the state police have not been returned.

This is a developing story and will be updated with the latest details as they are made available.
