— The idea of cabin fever has been inspiring great art since the first caveman drew on a wall, waiting out the Ice Age. More recently, it has inspired projects as varied as Charlie Chaplin’s "The Gold Rush," Steven King’s "The Shining," and a Simpson's episode called "Mountain of Madness."

Don’t wait out these long winter months cursing the cold and watching the Weather Channel. Join artists and guests from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, at the Artists' Market Community Center, 114 Richardson Avenue, Shohola, for a multi-media event featuring artwork, poetry, performance art, sculpture, and music.

Suggested attire: flannel pajamas (optional).

Participating poets are Will Conway, Nancy Dymond, Mary Greene, Dorothy Hartz, Sally Hendee, Mort Malkin, Tracey Gass Ranze, and Nancy Wells. The artists include Rose Chateau, Spencer Chateau, Bill Cohen, Kristen Dasenbrock, Mef Gannon, Mary Greene, Claudine Luchsinger, Jane Luchsinger, Ari Mir-Pontier, John Papas, Joe Petrosi, Dixie Rich, Kelly Ryan, Alexis Siroc, and Joan Standora.

There will also be an original dramatic reading by Bizzy Coy, live music, and complimentary refreshments.

The exhibit runs from Jan. 6 through 13.

This project is supported, in part, by a grant from the Richard L. Snyder Fund, administered by the Greater Pike Community Foundation. It is hosted by the Artists' Market Community Center and Barryville Area Arts Association
