Pike's Peek

Kudos to readers who knew where to find the handy detail in last week's clue.

Dr. Marc Kramer writes, "This hard wired phone is on the outside wall of the First Aid Station at NPS Milford Beach (remembered by some as Bob’s Beach prior to the aborted Tocks Island Dam project, 1962-1976, and the subsequent development by the NPS)."

That's right!

Pike County Commissioner Matt Osterberg offers more background: "This phone can be found at the "Milford Beach" This area was originally owned by Bob Blood. And is still referred to by many as 'Bob's Beach.' It was popular swimming area with boat rentals and picnic area. In 1972 it was purchased by the government and named Milford Beach but still to many, it will always be Bob's Beach."

Nancy J. Carpenter also knew where to find the clue.

So the next time your cell phone has lost its last bar, head to Bob's Beach! (Warning: The Courier has not actually tried to place a call from the phone, but we trust it works as good as it looks....)

Thank you for playing along.
